Danielle Steele paints a portrait of life in America during the 1920,s through the cultural changes of the 60,s. She depicts four generations of women in one family, their motherhood, tragedies and victories. I would recommend this novel if you like historical fiction. For me it was inspirational, heartwarming, rich in detail and character driven. *****

A Long Way To A Small Angry Planet
by Becky Chambers

This book was a little absurd. I don't typically read sci-fi that involves an entirely new universe and various alien creatures, so maybe it's just not for me. However, I did enjoy many aspects of this story. Chambers created an entire universe with new creatures, social structures, and cultures. From a sociological perspective, it was fascinating. The relationships between the characters were definitely the most intriguing part of this book. The plot itself left a lot to be desired. It truly was about the journey and not the destination. If you enjoy world building and escaping into complex relationships between various species, then this book is for you. However, if you like an adventure story driven more by plot, you may want to look elsewhere.
