The Carter's are a family whose wealth was built on a grandfather's profits from bootlegging. Compounding the lack of strong male figures in Landon's life in his hypocritical congressman father , who rarely spends time at home. Neglect pushes Landon to develop a rebellious streak and at the start of the story he is both adrift and certain, confident and susceptible to peer opinion in other words, a typical teenager. There is more than a touch of Houlden Caulfueld in his character when he encounters Jamie Sullivan, the daughter of a local minister and the goody -two shoes of the school. Jamie is such social poison to Landon's insecure circle that he avoids her at all costs, until , as the newly elected class president desperate for a date to the dance , he asks. Her certain that she'll be available.

Danielle Steele paints a portrait of life in America during the 1920,s through the cultural changes of the 60,s. She depicts four generations of women in one family, their motherhood, tragedies and victories. I would recommend this novel if you like historical fiction. For me it was inspirational, heartwarming, rich in detail and character driven. *****

I like the book because the pictures tell a lot about the story. Raina is not afraid to do things and figures it out at the end of the story.

Jo Marie leaves her job & friends and buys a B & B in Cedar Cove after her husband was killed in Afghanistan. Story resolves around herself and her first two guests and how they each cope with problems in their own lives. Short story (When First They Met) added a nice touch.
The Extraordinary Life Of Sam Hell
by Robert Dugoni
View in Library Catalog
This richly detailed realistic fiction moves quickly through the life of the main character, Sam Hill. The character driven novel brings to light everyday human struggles and the interesting interplay between characters that result. The indomitable strength of the human spirit and the ageless question of faith are woven throughout the novel. The question of what is an exceptional life is a key thread throughout.
Whose Dead, Doc?
by James M. Griffin

I like cozies. They're easy, breezy reads that are fun to read after a long day at work. Juliette takes care of bunnies and solves mysteries in her spare time as an amateur sleuth. When a dead body ruins a birthday party she's hosting a bunny show at, the host asks her to get involved and help the cops find the killer. It wasn't going to be easy since Evelyn, the person who has killed, was disliked by everyone and had a lot of enemies. She would blackmail people. To help uncover more about Eveyln's murder, Juliette accepts a position as a judge at a local bunny competition. Evelyn was judging but since was killed, the competition was down a judge. For the most part, it's a fun and thrilling read. Some parts are hard to read if you're a hardcore animal lover like me. Not everyone in the book loves and cares about the sweet little bunnies and sometimes puts them in harm's way.
