If God Loves Me, Why Am I Hurting?
by Daniel L. Segraves
View in Library Catalog
We all go through difficult moments in life and we become depressed and sometimes question God as to why he would allow us to go through such tough times. We refer to our difficult moments as suffering. The great good God of heaven allows us to suffer as we term it in order to make us strong in our faith in him, to cause us to trust him more. We prove God in our suffering because when he brings us through our suffering, we gain confidence in him. As one song writer states. If we never had a problem, how would we know that God can solve them.

I'm a big fan of this series based on the character Eve Dallas. This is a complicated story of the murder of 2 people who seem to have no connection to each other. The search for the solution of the mystery leads back to a posh boys high school to determine whether these crimes are terrorist or revenge driven. I recommend it as I found it difficult to put the book down.

I like this book because it has nice pictures and this book teaches kids that they should listen to adults and not to walk away by themselves because they can be in danger.
The Chemist
by Stephenie Meyer

Don't let the author's name scare you away. Meyer proves that she can tell a great story devoid of vampires and werewolves. The Chemist truly has something for everyone, be it action, romance, mystery, or just unpredictable twists. Alex is a complex protagonist, an anti-hero of sorts, and it's difficult not to root for her and the companions she makes along the way.

Rescue
by Anita Shreve

In this book the focus is on family and the bonds that tie families together. The main character, Webster, is an EMT in Vermont raising his 17 year old daughter on his own after he sent his wife away following a car accident that she caused. While most of the book focuses on the events leading up to the accident the end brings to light the fragile strings that tie family members together, regardless of the distance, time or emotional space between them.
