It is always an experience when we get the experience of living on the other side of the tracks. The author did an excellent job of expressing what her experience was like when she wore the robe of a patient instead of that of a doctor. The had the experience of lying in a hospital bed and watching and hearing the treatments that patients get from their medical team. She was able to experience the coldness, insensitivity, the mistakes, the delays, whatever attitude and the attitude of being treated as a subject, as a bed #. She saw and heard, ego, self-satisfaction, nonchalant attitude from the medical team caring for her. This was an eye opener for her and made her determine in her heart that she would not display these attitudes in her practice.

The Language Of Sisters

Although touted as Rice's first "Young Adult" novel on the book jacket, this book is in our Adult Fiction section and I think it is just as appropriate for adult readers. The content regarding texting while driving is relevant to any person behind the wheel and the theme of the bond between sisters resonates for any age. Rice's usual insights into families, love and the ups and downs that all entail are once again prevalent in this book. A quick read, I would recommend it as a great addition to any beach or pool bag!

An upper class family in the summer of 1969. On Massachusett's Nantucket Island area. I enjoyed reading the story and reminiscing about my life at that age (20/21). Well written. I now want to read my stories by this author. She has written twenty-three more novels. Great summer reading.
