This is a great science book for little readers. The sentences are short and teach about our planet Earth.

The Chemist
by Stephenie Meyer
View in Library Catalog
Don't let the author's name scare you away. Meyer proves that she can tell a great story devoid of vampires and werewolves. The Chemist truly has something for everyone, be it action, romance, mystery, or just unpredictable twists. Alex is a complex protagonist, an anti-hero of sorts, and it's difficult not to root for her and the companions she makes along the way.

In Shock: My Journey from Death to Recovery and the Redemptive Power of Hope Book by Rana Awdish It is always an experience when we get the experience of living on the other side of the tracks. The author did an excellent job of expressing what her experience was like when she wore the robe of a patient instead of that of a doctor. She had the experience of lying in a hospital bed and watching and hearing the treatments that patients get from their medical team. She was able to experience the coldness, insensitivity, the mistakes, the delays, nasty attitudes and the attitude of being treated as a subject, as a bed #. She saw and heard, ego, self-satisfaction, received nonchalant attitudse from the medical team caring for her. This was an eye opener for her and made her determine in her heart that she would not display these attitudes in her practice.

Looking For Alaska
by John Green
View in Library Catalog
Looking for Alaska was one of my favorites when I first read it back in high school. Now a college graduate, and I wanted to see how it would hold up. There were still many things to love about this story. It's easy to read, has likeable characters, and is a fairly straight forward plot that does try to tackle some of life's deeper questions. From a slightly more mature perspective, I question these characters and their actions a little bit more than I did several years ago, but I still think it's worth a read, especially if you have never read any other John Green books before.

This book has information on color selections and styles that can flatter. Also, there is information on caring for the clothes we buy. Accessories are not forgotten, either.
The Berenstain Bears and the Spooky Shadows
by Stan&Jan Berenstain

This is a funny, easy to read story which helps kids get over being scared of shadows. Shadows can be scary and silly and this book shows how to get rid off fears.
