Summer Of '69
by Elin Hilderbrand
View in Library Catalog
An upper class family in the summer of 1969. On Massachusett's Nantucket Island area. I enjoyed reading the story and reminiscing about my life at that age (20/21). Well written. I now want to read my stories by this author. She has written twenty-three more novels. Great summer reading.
IN Shock: My Journey from Death to Recovery and the Redemptive Power of Hope

It is always an experience when we get the experience of living on the other side of the tracks. The author did an excellent job of expressing what her experience was like when she wore the robe of a patient instead of that of a doctor. The had the experience of lying in a hospital bed and watching and hearing the treatments that patients get from their medical team. She was able to experience the coldness, insensitivity, the mistakes, the delays, whatever attitude and the attitude of being treated as a subject, as a bed #. She saw and heard, ego, self-satisfaction, nonchalant attitude from the medical team caring for her. This was an eye opener for her and made her determine in her heart that she would not display these attitudes in her practice.

The Book Of Lost Friends
by Lisa Wingate

Great historical fiction centered on the actual newspaper ads listed in southern newspapers searching for lost family members following the abolition of slavery. The story dovetails the life of a former slave and the life of a present day teacher in Augustine, Louisiana. As their stories progress, though 100 years apart, the connections between the two are made with the discovery of a hidden book.

I like this book because l like Nancy stories. In this one Nancy has too much clothes but she wants more. This book teaches how to be kind to others. During a " swap-and-shop" at school Nancy wants the same thing like her friend does, but she decides to let her friend have it because she realizes she has so much already.
